Lacing Railway

The lacing railway was anticipated with much excitement.  I bought it for my son who has some difficulties with his hands and we are trying to teach him to improve his fine motor skills.  A threading toy is perfect for a two year old which he is and ideal for helping him learn hand eye coordination.  Sadly, however this toy arrived without the key wooden threading aid which in my view is a vital part of this toy.  Instead it just came with a peice of thread which even I found a little tricky to thread through some of the larger wooden items, so for my small son this was impossible.  On speaking with Mulberry we understand that possibly for the dreaded 'health and safety' reasons the wooden threading aid is no longer a part of this toy (despite this being shown in the picture in the catalogue and on the box).  Mulberry were great and managed to find an 'older' version of this toy which did inclued the wooden piece and we now have a fantastic toy for my son to play with which is helping him with his hand control.  This older version is beautiful with lovely wooden pieces which are chunky and easy for a two year old to hold and it has the key wooden threading aid which works perfectly.  Beware the newer versions though as they are not quite as you might expect.
Mulberry Bush says :   We always aim to give an accurate description as possible of a toy and it is disappointing when manufacturers change the design of a product after we have received the original sample and gone to print.  Sadly  this is out of our control - but fortunately does not happen very often.
