VAT and Mulberry Bush

VAT and Mulberry Bush

Although VAT reverts to 17.5% from 1st January 2010 Mulberry Bush will not increase prices for items that are in stock.  We will be carrying out a full price review before we publish our next catalogue in March, and we know already that some toys may have to go up when we next receive stock because costs to us will be increasing, but we will do all we can to keep our prices competitive, absorbing the increase in VAT ourselves…

All orders are despatched

All orders are despatched

All orders placed on or before Monday 21st December were despatched on or before that date.  Many were upgraded to 24 hour delivery at our expense to try to ensure they arrived in time for Christmas, even though some were placed after our cut-off date.  We have no outstanding orders. As will be no surprise to anyone the freezing weather has had an effect on deliveries in certain parts of the country but we know ParcelForce and Royal Mail are…

Best Selling Christmas Toys for 2009

What are our best selling toys this Christmas? Some of the wooden toys we offer are best sellers year after year.  In pride of place has to be the fantastic Mini Cakes and Stand which has been immensely popular for a couple of years now, and not surprisingly. The detail is incredible and with 12 mouth-watering wooden cakes plus wooden stand at £11.99 it’s incredible value too. Another best seller this year and a consistent favourite for 2 or 3…

Christmas toys panic – order early!

Christmas toys panic – order early!

There’s going to be a shortage of toys this Christmas –  so says BBC Breakfast today. Well for the must-have, toy-of-the-year Barbie Roller Girl or Transformers Movie Leader type of toy that may very well be true.  The big distributors have to place their orders in the Far East many months before Christmas, and at the beginning of this year with all the doom and gloom there was it was not surprising that many importers were cautious.  Bear in mind…

Christmas Presents Helped by Customer Reviews

Christmas Presents Helped by Customer Reviews

The opportunity for our customers to add their own reviews of their purchases was a recent enhancement to our website just a few weeks ago.  Opening up this service was not without some trepidation on our part it has to be said.  Most of the conversations we have with you our customers take place before the toy has been bought and whilst we’ve had many, many compliments over the years we never really know what people really think about their…

Quadrabyke – the ultimately versatile bike for children

Quadrabyke – the ultimately versatile bike for children

This is a chid’s bike that starts as a 4 wheeler, then can quickly and easily be changed to a trike by removing one front wheel and repositioning the other by means of the clever axle system.  Then when your child is ready the rear wheels are changed in the same way converting the same frame into a first pedalled two-wheeler bike.  This is such a fantastic idea we thought it well worth putting on the front cover of our…

New Mulberry Bush Toy Catalogue out now!

New Mulberry Bush Toy Catalogue out now!

What a relief!  After several months of hard work our new autumn / winter catalogue of children’s toys is not only printed but is now in the post to our customers.  We think it’s the best yet, but we are a bit biased! We’re very pleased to have found loads of new toys which we think you’ll like, and certainly the initial orders received this week seem to show that our new range has the seal of approval from parents…

Wooden Toys | Too many eggs in the Chinese basket?

Wooden Toys | Too many eggs in the Chinese basket?

It really does seem that the Chinese are beginning to find that manufacturing is not all beer and skittles In April 2008 I wrote that there were signs of slowing in the Chinese economy, and pondered whether it might not have been time for British toy manufacturing to re-emerge.  Now it seems the Chinese themselves are concerned at the rapid shrinking of their toy manufacturing sector, to the extent that they are seeking approval – presumably from their Government –…

Toys for Expatriates

Toys for Expatriates

We regularly receive orders for toys and games from overseas, or to be sent overseas, but calculating the Postage & Packing cost is frequently difficult.  The cost depends on the weight and size of the parcel, where it is to be sent, what service is to be used etc.  Given the number of countries, we have been asked to send to the permutations are enormous. We tell our customers that we will advise the actual cost of delivery, (plus a…

Perfume Laboratory – a craft kit that makes scents

Perfume Laboratory – a craft kit that makes scents

We’re told by the manufacturers of the Perfume Laboratory that it’s going to be advertised on TV over Easter.  Leaving aside the contentious question of whether children’s products should be pushed at them in this way, I can tell you this was a very popular science kit prior to Christmas.  With its links to the National Curriculum it’s one you can buy in the knowledge that it’s educational and fun at the same time. So – if you find yourself…
